Kohakuya– A Seaside Eatery Specializing in Tuna, Oysters & Tempura
The Sanctuary of Tuna and Oysters. Welcome to Kohakuya, a must-visit seafood haven.
Just a 17-minute walk from Iharanosato Station on the Nankai Line, Umi-no-Eki Kohakuya is a seafood lover’s paradise, nestled right by the fishing port.
This “gourmet stop by the sea” specializes in premium tuna and oysters, sourced with a professional eye and served at their peak flavor.
Run directly by the local seafood company Yutaro Suisan, the restaurant takes great pride in offering only the freshest seasonal treasures.
From January to May, it transforms into a cozy kaki-goya (seasonal oyster hut), serving a full oyster course—from plump steamed oysters and crispy fried oysters to savory kaki gohan (oyster rice).
Don’t miss the signature Kaki Bucket Steamed Platter (1.5kg)—a bold and photogenic dish that’s perfect for your social feed!
After late May, the restaurant shifts to a Tuna and Tempura Specialty Shop, where you can enjoy luxurious tuna bowls, exquisite nigiri sushi, and well-balanced tempura set meals.
The standout dish is the “Deluxe Tuna Bowl,” which lets you savor lean tuna, chutoro, and otoro in one bowl—an absolute hit with overseas visitors!
The refined wooden interior offers photogenic angles at every turn.
Right next door is its sister restaurant, Osakana Shokudo Kotaya, creating a bustling atmosphere reminiscent of a seaside station right here in Izumisano.
While it’s a bit of a walk from the station, there’s free parking available, and tour buses are welcome too!
If you’re looking for flavors found only here and a spot that’s truly worth the trip, this is the gourmet destination in Izumisano you won’t want to miss.
