Kashita Shrine Setsubun Festival
At Kashita Shrine in Tsuruhara, the annual Setsubun Festival is held, featuring a bean-throwing ceremony to drive away evil spirits and invite good fortune. The Setsubun Festival is a traditional event that has been passed down since the Heian period (9th century), and in the past, it included a ritual to drive away evil spirits (Oni) using archery. Today, it has developed into a ceremony where participants express gratitude to the gods and purify themselves from the misfortunes of the past year. Every year, many visitors come to participate, including international attendees who experience this unique cultural tradition of Setsubun.
