Now in Season in Izumisano : Experience Japan’s Authentic Culinary Culture Chinu Umi Don Stamp Rally (Limited Event) Until January 31, 2026
Inspired by the ancient name of Osaka Bay — “Chinu no Umi,” the Sea of Abundance — this annual gourmet event celebrates the deep connection between local heritage and everyday Japanese food culture.
Across 18 participating restaurants in the South Senshu and Wakayama areas, including 13 in Izumisano, each chef presents their own carefully crafted Chinu Umi Don—a bowl featuring seasonal local ingredients at their peak flavor.
Although donburi is traditionally a beloved everyday Japanese meal, here it becomes a unique cultural experience, where premium local produce such as Senshu onions, shirasu (whitebait), anago (conger eel), and Inunaki Pork are elevated into refined expressions of regional identity.
Start your culinary journey from Nankai Izumisano Station, just 10 minutes from Kansai International Airport, and enjoy visiting restaurants offering diverse creations—each telling its own story of land, sea, and craftsmanship.

✅What does “Chinu” mean?
“Chinu” originates from the ancient name of Osaka Bay, Chinu no Umi, with several historical theories:
Named for coastal areas once rich in reeds and grasses
Derived from the black sea bream, called Chinu in Kansai dialect
Connected to a legend from the mythical expedition of Emperor Jimmu
Today, the word symbolizes the bounty and cultural heritage of the Senshu region.
