4th Kome Fes – Autumn 2026 in Izumisano | Five Onigiri Shops from Senshu Gather for a Day of Freshly Harvested Rice: November 8, 2026
A food festival celebrating freshly harvested rice and hands-on experiences inspired by Japanese rice culture.
“Bread festivals exist, so why not a rice festival?” That simple question inspired Kome Fes (Rice Festival), now returning for its fourth edition.
This time, 23 vendors will gather, including five onigiri (rice ball) shops from the Senshu area. Enjoy dishes made with freshly harvested rice, browse donabe clay cooking pots, rice bowls and other goods, and take part in rice- and food-related workshops. Live music and kamishibai—traditional Japanese storytelling with illustrated cards—add to a day filled with discoveries beyond the food.
Taste, watch, create and explore. Discover Japanese rice culture in the beautiful natural surroundings of Izumisano Hills Green Space.
Vendor details and further information will be announced on the event’s official Instagram.

🥢 Discover Japanese traditions through hands-on experiences as well as food.
Try making bamboo chopsticks or crafting shimenawa—traditional Japanese sacred ropes—using makomo, a wetland plant. Makomo is also used in the sacred ropes at Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine. Its young edible shoots, known as makomodake, are sometimes used as an onigiri filling by Otomegokoro, one of the shops taking part in the festival.
