ℹ️ Detailed Information (Seating & Facilities)

This shop once appeared on the TV program “Tonari no Ningen Kokuhō” (“Living National Treasures Next Door”).
This long-established shop continues the legacy of Ishihara Shōten, preserving its traditional techniques and using the same workbenches and fryers passed down through generations. The warm, nostalgic atmosphere offers a glimpse into Japan’s culinary heritage—be sure to savor the taste of freshly fried tempura made before your eyes.

⭐ Highlights (Menu & Services)

The shop mainly offers kamaboko-style tempura — a Kansai specialty made from seasoned fish paste (nerimono) and lightly fried to golden perfection.
(Note: Unlike the batter-coated tempura often seen abroad, this Osaka-style version is closer to fish cakes, known for their soft texture and savory depth.)
Priced from around ¥100 per piece (made using sayori — Japanese halfbeak), these freshly fried tempura are perfect for a light street snack—or to take home as a charming taste of Izumisano.

Signature Items

Shōga-ten (Ginger Tempura):
A Kansai favorite made by mixing minced ginger into fish paste before frying — a simple yet distinctive flavor loved across Osaka for its warmth and refreshing zest.

Gobō-ten (Burdock Root Tempura):
A crunchy delight wrapped with burdock root, reflecting the Osaka spirit of adding texture and depth to everyday food. A long-loved local favorite with earthy flavor.

Yasai-ten (with Onion):
Fluffy and sweet, this vegetable tempura features onions that melt gently inside — a comforting, home-style taste familiar to Osaka locals.

Kikurage-ten (Wood Ear Mushroom Tempura):
Known for its pleasantly chewy texture, this variety showcases the Japanese love for unique mouthfeel (shokkan) — a fun and satisfying contrast of soft and crisp.

Hira-ten (Flat Fish Cake Tempura):
A nostalgic Osaka classic, simply seasoned and fried flat, symbolizing the comforting taste of Japan’s old-fashioned snack shops (shitamachi no aji).
