Just a four-minute walk from Nankai Izumisano Station lies Kura no Café Mukunoki.
This intimate hideaway café sits beneath a majestic zelkova tree — a beloved local landmark.

The café occupies a historic kura storehouse originally built in the Edo period.
For generations, this building watched over the lives and culture of the Sano-Machiba merchant district,
and it has now been thoughtfully restored and reborn as a café filled with warmth and creativity.

The café is housed in a renovated kura (traditional Japanese warehouse). Inside, you’ll find a refined space filled with the owner’s hand-picked furniture and decor collected during years spent overseas, featuring beautiful pieces from Vietnam and Africa.

Their signatures include Vietnamese-style dripping coffee and Kinzanji-miso cheese toast — a savory local specialty combining fermented miso and cheese. Hand-made sweets such as airy chiffon cake and “date energy balls” are also favorites.

With only ten seats available, the owner’s philosophy is simple:

“I want each guest to enjoy their own quiet moment.”

The café opens mainly from Thursday to Sunday on an irregular schedule.
When the door is open, consider it a serendipitous moment — a special chance to enjoy a peaceful afternoon.
