In Izumisano City, since 2006, the annual Six Shrines Pilgrimage has been held as a New Year’s tradition, where participants visit six shrines to pray for good fortune. The participating shrines are Aritooshi Shrine, Ogami Shrine, Kashida Shrine, Nakami Shrine, Hine Shrine, and Yahata Shrine (listed in alphabetical order). You can start at any of the shrines! At the first shrine you visit, purchase a special Ema (votive tablet), and make sure to visit all six shrines between January 1st and January 15th. It’s also recommended to visit all the shrines in one go by cycling or participating in the half marathon event. At the end, return to the first shrine you visited for a final prayer and receive a Good Fortune Zodiac Hariko as a keepsake. It’s recommended to complete the Ema, and display both the Ema and the Hariko at home to bring good fortune. May your luck improve this year!
