Danjīri Festival in Izumisano:October 11–12, 2025

— A Living Heritage That Embodies Japan’s Spirit of Unity and Craftsmanship —
Every autumn, the quiet streets of Izumisano City burst into life with the deep rumble of taiko drums and the rhythmic chants of locals pulling magnificent wooden floats through narrow lanes.
This is the Danjīri Festival, a proud tradition dating back to the Edo period — a time when people prayed for safety, prosperity, and harmony with nature through vibrant celebration.

Each danjiri is a masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship, carved from wood by local artisans and passed down through generations.
The detailed carvings depict legendary creatures and sacred motifs, symbolizing the spirit and artistry that define Japan’s festivals.
