🎋Make a Wish Beneath the Stars—Tanabata Festival at Kashita Shrine:July 7, 2025
Step into a beautiful Japanese tradition at Kashita Shrine (Kashita Jinja) in Izumisano City — the Tanabata Festival, a heartwarming summer ritual with over 1,000 years of history!
The Tanabata Festival is a solemn Shinto ritual where people write their wishes on colorful paper strips called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches.
This festival reflects Japan’s long-held custom of writing wishes for success in learning, self-improvement, and making dreams come true.
🛐 On the evening of July 7, a formal Shinto ceremony will be held inside the shrine to pray for the realization of wishes. Visitors may join by applying in advance (see below).
🎋Tanzaku papers will be available from June 15 to July 7 in front of the worship hall.
You may either place them in the offering box or tie them to bamboo yourself.
All collected wishes will be ritually purified during the Tanabata Prayer Ceremony.
