🌕🎍The 4th Moonlit Bamboo Lantern Festival (Kangetsu-sai, Moon Viewing Festival) at Myokoji Temple: October 4–5, 2025

The Moon Viewing Festival (Kangetsu-sai) once again illuminates the autumn of Izumisano, taking place at the historic Myōkōji Temple, a temple with deep ties to the region’s spiritual heritage.
Only an 8-minute walk from Nankai Izumisano Station, the temple grounds—peacefully removed from the bustle of the city—are lit by around 1,000 glowing taketōrō.
(traditional bamboo lanterns used in seasonal Japanese festivals), creating a shimmering sea of light that blends beautifully with the night sky. The otherworldly scenery offers a truly unforgettable cultural experience, one that will remain etched in your travel memories.
This year’s newly crafted bamboo monument is a work of art, revealing kaleidoscope-like patterns when illuminated. Capture the shifting play of light in your photos, and you will have an image destined to shine on social media.
